How can I tell ?
Your parent(s) can ask the school to help decide whether or not they think you need some extra help.

What should my school do ?
If you need extra help at school, your school should try to make sure that you get the
extra help you need. Your teacher(s) may be able to give you some extra help or you
might get help from other staff at school as well. Sometimes, this means organising extra help from other people too - like nurses, therapists, educational psychologists or social workers.

Some children who need help with their education from other people may have a Co-ordinated Support Plan (or CSP). A CSP explains why you need extra help, the kind of help you need, and who from.

What if I can’t get help ?
If you need extra help, but you don’t get it, you should ask your parent(s) to talk to the headteacher or an education officer. Sometimes, a person called a mediator will try and help with this.

If there is still a problem, your parent(s) can ask for an expert on education to advise your school on what they should be doing to help you. If you have a CSP, your
parent(s) may be able to appeal to three people who know about education (called a
Tribunal) who can decide what extra help you need. A Tribunal can also say whether
you need a CSP or not in the first place.
